“Kate Horsman of Vancouver crafts luxury products for your dog, writes Michele Marko.

Q: How would you describe Dog & Crow?

A: Dog & Crow is a Canadian made luxury goods company with a contemporary & bohemian flavour for the design-oriented eye.

Q: How did the business come about?

A: It started through my inability to find beautiful, clean, high quality dog beds & accessories…It also came through the love & inspiration of my former dog Sarge, a rescue, & who now lives on through my company by involving the SPCA & other organizations where a portion of all sales goes to…

Q: How do you decide what fabrics will work for the dog beds?
A: I always think it’s best to keep natural where possible. So it was a very easy decision to use, linens, & hemps, canvases, & leather for leaches. There are some pure plush beds that are just extravagance, but worth all the comfort.

Q: How & where are the beds constructed?
A: The beds are all made in Vancouver

Q: What are the price points on the dog beds?
A: The beds start at $130 & go to $190.

Q: What else do you have in the collection?
A: There is a full line of leaches & collars that I like to say are the perfect walking accessory. They are perfectly bohemian & probably one of my favourite pieces of the collection. I have a line of dishes which are fun, & some other pieces of flair such as the bandanas, leather poop bag holders, which are such a must for any dog owner…

All the beds in the line are washable with the exception of one. There has to be ease of care when you are dealing with some dirty dogs. So all beds & cushions can pop in the wash & lay flat to dry…

Q: Where do your products currently retail?
A: You can purchase all items through our online store at dogandcrow.ca.”
